3 Social Media Mistakes to Avoid This Spooky Season

It’s easy to post just for the sake of it. However, effective engagement requires a strategic approach. Each piece of content should address your audience's real needs rather than simply reflecting what’s easy or what you feel like creating. In this guide, we’ll explore how prioritizing quality and relevance can drive growth and connection in your social media efforts.

Scary Social Media Mistakes

  1. Avoid Just Posting to Post 🎃

    • Purposeful Content Creation: Each piece of content should serve a specific purpose. Avoid posting without a clear goal; instead, focus on your audience's needs.

    • I used to work for a company where my manager would say, “Oh, that’s easy for us to make. make that.” WRONG mentally. We needed to focus on creating content with a strategic purpose.

    • Moral of the story: Have a strategy.

  2. Avoid Creating Content You Feel Like Making 👻

    • Understand your audience: There is a difference between creating content when you have an idea and creating content for your audience. How do you know the difference. Take the following example.

    • I was working with a web developer. He was telling me about a social media post idea. He was very excited about it. I noticed that the post itself was quite technical. I asked him, “Would this post help your current clients or the prospect you spoke to this morning?” He said no. He realized that content is not about what you FEEL like creating but what is necessary for you to build an audience and get clients.

    • Moral of the story: What do your prospects NEED to work with you2. ?

  3. Avoid “Easy Content.” 😱

    • Don’t get into this rut: As business owners, we want to check off as many things off our list. If that means creating content that doesn’t take us a long time, then perfect! This is also the wrong mentally. Consider the following story.

    • A previous manager would say, “I don’t want to take up too much of your time.” This was so confusing to me. It doesn’t matter how much time it takes, as long as it’s done properly. Or else what’s the point??

    • Moral of the story: Focus on quality versus quantity. Social media is not just an item on your checklist. It is a source of business growth and opportunity.

Every post is an opportunity to build your brand and attract clients.
